Bring Your Spindle
Bring the part in, or whatever's left of it, and we'll measure it while you wait. You'll walk out knowing what it is and what a set would cost. No appointment, and nothing to pay for coming in.

We’re Kessels’ own spindle shop, and we share 107 Colonnade Road with Henderson Furniture Repair (est. 1947). If you’ve been to either, you’ve been to us.
What to bring
- Bringsthe part, or a piece of it
- Bringsroughly how many you need
- Leaves witha drawing and a price
If the part is still on the staircase, a photograph is fine. You don’t need to take anything apart to come and ask.
What happens when you walk in
- 1
Someone looks at it
A turner, not a receptionist. He'll tell you what the part is, roughly when it was made, and whether it was a standard pattern or a one-off.
- 2
We measure it on the counter
With the part in hand, which is the whole reason for coming in. A part we can hold gets measured exactly. A photograph gets measured nearly exactly.
- 3
You leave with a drawing, a price and a date
The drawing by the end of the next business day, by email, with the price per piece and the lead time on it. If it's right, you can put the order in there and then. If you'd rather sleep on it, that's fine too.
Not near Nepean?
Mail it instead. A spindle fits in a poster tube, and posting it costs less than the drive. Tell us it's coming and we'll watch for it.
Let us know you're coming
Optional, and it doesn't book anything, but it means we'll know to expect you.
